In 2017, Worx counted 44 new hotel openings throughout the country.
The regions of Lisbon, Porto and North, Center accounted for 62% of the total number of openings, with the Lisbon region concentrating the largest share of new hotel offerings in Portugal.

The incidence fell on mostly 4-star hotels, representing more than 50% of the openings, followed by 5-star hotels representing more than 20%.

For 2018, more than 50 hotels are expected to be opened in the national territory, mostly located in the region of Lisbon (47%) and the North region with 21%.
